At The Women’s Healthcare Group, providing comprehensive care for women at all stages of their lives includes much more than delivering babies and annual GYN check ups. Women have special health issues, and throughout their lives these issues change as their bodies change. In their lives, women must consider: When should I have a baby? What method of birth control is best now that my family is complete? Excessive bleeding it taking its toll on me -- how can I stop it? What options are available for the symptoms of menopause? WHCG offers a number of on-site procedures to help women address their health issues.
Essure®– a gentle, hormone-free birth control procedure
Essure is a permanent birth control procedure that is performed in about 10 minutes in our office. Available since 2002, Essure has a 99.8% effective rate and is a trusted barrier method to pregnancy. It does not involve surgical incisions; you do not go under general anesthesia; and it is a hormone-free solution. Additionally, when performed in an office setting, there is typically less out-of-pocket cost for patients.
Implanon® – a long-term, progestin-only contraceptive
Implanon is a small, flexible rod that your physician inserts under your arm. Most women can’t see the rod, but it can be felt where it was inserted. It is more than 99% effective in preventing pregnancy and lasts up to three years. If longer protection is needed, a new Implanon can be inserted.
Mirena® – an intrauterine birth control option
Mirena is a soft, flexible plastic intrauterine device inserted by your physician that is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy. It works by releasing small amounts of hormones directly into the uterus and is effective for five years. Mirena does not contain estrogen. It is recommended for women who have had at least one child.
Novasure®– controlling excessive bleeding in mid-life
Many women experience heavy bleeding in their 30s and 40s. This cycle takes a physical and emotional toll on women. Novassure is a five-minute, in-office procedure that gently removes the lining of the uterus which causes monthly bleeding. It helps women take control over their lives again. Novasure endometrial ablation is a one-time treatment that does not include hormonal side effects nor require ongoing pills. Performed in an office setting, there is typically less out-of-pocket cost for patients.
